The basic casino blackjack game is played with a deck of 52 cards, although casinos uses many packs of cards to prevent card counting and reduce the odds. Casino blackjack is often played with six or eight decks of 52 cards each.
Players are dealt a minimum of two cards, and do not have to accept any more cards if they are happy with the total number reached with the two cards together. Blackjack got its name after twenty-one was introduced to the United States. The name blackjack came from a special bonus that was given as a one to ten payout if the first two cards dealt to the player were the Ace of spades and one of the black jacks. The name of this casino blackjack hand was ‘blackjack,’ and while the special bonus does not apply to all blackjack casino games today, the name stuck and became the most popular name of the game in the English speaking world.
